Week 2

This week has been a fun learning process for me. I have been getting used to Rock Band and started off playing the guitar. I began playing the career mode but as of now, I am still a beginner, playing with only the first three buttons (green, red, and yellow) on the guitar. In the career mode I created my own rocker and I was able to customize his spiked hair, goatee, his rock star outfit, and I chose him as a guitarist. These customizable feature are a great aspect to the game and I enjoyed creating my own legacy. So far, I have played songs by Jet, the Ramones, Sound Garden, and Smashing Pumpkins. I like the variety of new rock and classic rock songs available and look forward to playing more.

Week 1

The game I chose to play for this semester was Rock Band. This is a game that allows you to play the guitar, bass, drums, or even be the lead singer of a band. I chose this game because I like listening to rock music and even though I have never been musically talented, I will now be able to rock out and jam to some of my favorite classic rock songs. This game is interesting because it involves active learning, rather than most passive learning video games that just require using a controller. Rock band comes equipped with a guitar, a microphone, and a drum set to make you feel like you're actually playing the music, not just pressing buttons. I have always wanted to play the guitar, but unfortunately I was never taught properly. I am hopeful that I learn a lot about the instruments in this game and maybe when I am done playing I will actually take up guitar.
